South Pacific Brewery’s flagship brand, SP Lager, has announced the winner of its SP Lager Bungim Yumi Song Competition today.
Twenty-five-year-old Joel-Clyde Komun was announced as the winner.
Komun from a mix-parentage of Western Highlands & Hela has won a total of K30,000 cash prize and a recording contract with DXT Studios & Entertainment.
Komun in thanking the public for voting for his song ‘Kumul Flavour’ said:
“I was shocked when I found out I was a finalist. Thank you to everyone that voted for ‘Kumul Flavour’, SP Brewery, and my parents.”
The first and second runners-up, are Gaigo Mao and David Giyal Meakoro. Finishing in fourth and fifth are Solomon Passingan and Wansolwara & Wango Crew.
First, runner-up Gaigo Mao received K6,000 while David Giyal Meakoro, K4,000.
SP Lager Senior Brand Manager Miriam Lama in congratulating the winners also extended to everyone who participated in the competition.
“We received over 100 submissions from all over the country,” Lama revealed.
South Pacific Brewery’s Marketing Manager Sergey Penchev also shared similar sentiments.
“We launch the SP Lager singing competition to build on the value of True Togetherness, which is what SP Lager’s slogan “Bungim Yumi” stands for.
The SP Lager Bungim Yumi Song Competition is part of SP Lager’s 70 Years celebration.
2022 marks the 70th Anniversary of the launch of the SP Lager brand and to commemorate this we have designed a special logo for the brand which has been incorporated in all our activities in the market, including TV advertising, radio, social media, and billboards.
The logo is also featured on our company car fleet, our breweries, and on our cooling equipment in trade.
The second part of the year saw the launching of the SP Lager Bungim Yumi Song Competition along with the special limited-edition collectable packaging design on both SP Lager bottles and cans.
