A South Pacific Export PNG Golf Open 2020-National was held over four day period in September 2020 at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club (RPMGC).
The event saw two professional golfers and 106 local aspiring amateur golfers not only from Port Moresby but also from around PNG, participate in the tournament.
Playing against the odds, local golfer, Cassie Koma came out on top to win this year’s SP Export PNG Golf Open 2020-National.
This year’s four day tournament is unlike the previous years due to the COVID-19. Our pro international golfers linked to the PGA Australia were not able to participate due to the global pandemic. The RPMGC initiated this national incentive for local amateur golfers to participate in a local tournament.
During the trophy presentation on Sunday, SP Brewery’s Managing Director, Ed Weggemans said: “We are happy to come on board and support the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club with this initiative and Papua New Guinean golfers. We are very proud that Cassie Koma, a local golfer, won the first ever SP Export PNG Golf Open 2020 – National. Congratulations Cassie.”
