SP Brewery donated an oxygenator to the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MPHA) on Wednesday 8th December 2021.
‘This donation is a demonstration of SP Brewery’s commitment to the community and the establishment that has served the people of Morobe and PNG as a whole,” said the SP Brewery Manager Corporate Affairs, John Nilkare during the presentation.
Nilkare, prior to making the presentation said with the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Delta variant has gripped Papua New Guinea and now with the emergence of Omicron that has already hit Australia, it is only a matter of time before it hits Papua New Guinea so it’s important that we are prepared for times of crisis and hopes this piece of equipment donated will serve its purpose and benefit the people of Morobe Province.
Chairman of the MPHA, David Wissink, upon accepting the donation thanked the SP Brewery and said “this is an important equipment especially when dealing with patients who have COVID-19 and/or other respiratory illnesses.”
“The equipment takes oxygen out of the air, concentrates it and pumps it in so one does not have to be so reliant on gas bottles or with moving them around. With the new wave coming, projected to hit PNG around February or March of 2022, having more of such equipment in place will be helpful,” Wissink added.
The oxygenator is one of five (5) procured by SP Brewery that will also be donated to four other Provincial Health Authorities of Eastern Highlands, Simbu, Western Highlands and Madang provinces.
